about us
The NC Cycling Festival builds upon more than twenty years of vintage biking tradition. In those twenty years, the interest in lightweight vintage bikes has continued to grow and 2019 marked another step in that growth process as the NC Cycling Rendezvous came to historic Farmington, North Carolina.
From a classic bike website, started by Coloradoan Michael Starwalker, was born a movement for classic bikes. Bill Ward added his piece to the movement as he began a mailing list, offering vintage bikes and bike parts to enthusiasts and collectors. Vintage bike shows and events would soon follow.
In 1997, Dale Brown began the Classic Rendezvous website with the first Cirque du Cyclisme event being held in Greensboro, North Carolina in 1998.
“It (Cirque du Cyclisme) was a bike ride, a swap meet and a vintage bike show; a three-ring circus of bike fun.” -Dale Brown
In 2007, Dale retired as organizer of the Cirque du Cyclisme and Wayne Bingham took the reins, moving the event to Leesburg, Virginia. Dale would not stay in retirement for very long and in 2011, and again in 2016, he would organize the Classic Rendezvous
In 2018, Dale graciously handed over the reins of the Cirque du Cyclisme to Farmington Community Events Center. With his assistance, and vast amount of knowledge, we were delighted to bring the NC Cycling Rendezvous to Farmington, beginning in 2019 and remained there until 2023.
2024 will mark another exciting change as the name will change to NC Cycling Festival and move to beautiful historic Downtown Mocksville!
